A Day in The City...

Those of you who know us, know that we live waaaaay out in the sticks! Lol! We love the fact that we aren't on a main road, our kids can run around and pretty much do as they please without the fear of getting ran over or getting nabbed by a stranger, the school is small, everybody knows everybody, etc. etc. HOWEVER... there just isn't much to do! We don't have splash parks and nice shopping centers, or farmer's markets and play areas. So, we like to take the kids to The Big City every now and then to do fun stuff!

A few weekends ago, we decided to go to The Aquarium Downtown and hang out for the day. The big kids rode rides for a while but the lines were long and it was H-O-T! So that didn't last too long!

They have a carnival with lots of games and rides outside. They also have a splash pad, but we forgot swim suits and towels, so that was out. So we moved on to my favorite part, the indoor aquarium. You know, where the a/c is! lol! They have tons of fish and other reptiles that are really neat. The kids touched star fish and pet sting rays, which they thought was so cool! They also have a two Bengal tigers in a glass cage. It's really neat to sit and watch them, they are so beautiful!

After we toured the aquarium, we headed over to the restaraunt and ate a yummy seafood dinner. We had to laugh because both kids wanted an appetizer, boiled shrimp, and an entree, grilled shrimp. They don't order off the kids menu anymore, which is getting really expensive, ha! But I'm pretty proud of them because they would rather have grilled shrimp and broccoli than fish sticks and french fries. Kids menus need to step it up. Not all kids live on chicken nuggets and mac n cheese.

After dinner, we were walking to the car and we saw horse and carriage rides. The kids threw a fit wanting to go on a ride. So Daddy agreed and we all took a ride through downtown to see all the lights and big, pretty buildings. I couldn't figure out the right setting to put my camera on, so I didn't get any good pictures. The kids, even Lakyn, just sat quietly and admired all the beautiful sights that The City has to offer. It was really peaceful, and just something I want to remember forever! We had a fun day in The Big City!

Beach Day

The weather has been so nice this spring. We could seriously use some rain, but I've really enjoyed our dry 78 degree Sunny Spring! I couldn't wait to get the kids to the beach this year. I just knew they would have a blast. They have always loved the beach, but the older they get the more fun they are for all day trips like the one we took to Galveston a few weeks ago. Nan and Poppa kept Lakyn and Josh and I took "The Big Kids" to the beach with Seth & Erin.

Little Man had so much fun! He chased the sea gulls all day and kept calling them "sea hawks". He is so funny! He kept asking for snacks and then he would feed them to the sea gulls. I don't think our neighbors were too fond of that ;)

There were ladybugs EVERYWHERE! Harleigh made little homes and castles and had a ladybug at all times. She is such a girly girl, but she loves bugs and animals so much. Little Girl, Big heart!

It was a blast hanging out with Seth & Erin. She and I have known each other since grade school! We went through typically girl drama since day 1, but somehow we remained friends. Seth & Erin are getting married on June 18th and I can't wait to be a part of their special day!

They were so awesome with the kids! They brought stuff to dig in the sand and make castles and they played with Harleigh and Trey all day long. They are going to be great parents one day ;0)

Seth, Trey, Josh, & Harleigh posing with their sand castle. They were so proud! I have a feeling we will be having a lot more beach days throughout the summer!

Daddy's Home!

Josh just got home from Monticello, Utah. This was his second year to go on a mule deer/elk hunt. I was a little upset that he was leaving for 12 days so close to my due date, but we got through it. Thank God I didn't have this baby while he was gone. He would have NEVER heard the end of it! lol! The day before he left we spent the day together as a family. We went to Bass Pro Shops in Pearland and it was so neat! I have been to Bass Pro plenty of times but I'm always impressed! Then we went to the Downtown Aquarium.

Our sweet babies pretending like they like each other! j/k They have been getting along really well lately!

Josh and Harleigh posing in the aquarium. Somehow we managed to skip the carnival. I love our kids being little because they don't notice stuff like that most of the time. Instead, we bought tickets and walked through to see all of the fish and reptiles before we ate. It was really nice since it was in the air conditioning! :)

And yes, they had a Bengal Tiger. It was really neat, but sad! He seemed so lonely and the area they have him in is so unnatural. It was all concrete and there was nothing wild about it. I felt sorry for the poor guy, but he sure is beautiful!

Here we all are waiting for our table at The Aquarium. We were so sad that Daddy was leaving and we are so happy he is home now!

What would a nice family dinner out be without a fun dessert? This is The Shark Attack, and it was soooo good! :)
